"I Can't Find Time to Write"
By Sharzi Avins (c) 2001

Ah, that age-old excuse! How many of us have used that one? I used to use it all the time, but found that the only thing suffering, was me. I wasn't doing what I loved to do, and no matter what you have in your life, you have to find that time to pamper yourself... even a little!

It doesn't take much to find some time. Simply keeping a notepad with you whenever you sit down can mean the difference between writing and not writing!

Don't concentrate on writing the great American novel! Instead, jot down ideas for stories. If you are watching TV, do double duty. Be on the lookout for words of interest, or phrases that intrigue you. Jot them down!

I have a notebook and pen in every room of my house... yes, even the powder room! :) There is one in my garage, basement (near the laundry area), one that I keep on the back patio near the pool, one on my nightstand in the bedroom... and so on. If you are sitting, you can be writing!

If you like to write on the run, how about getting a small, inexpensive tape recorder and keeping it handy? It is a great way to get down a few story ideas quickly!

We all know we can fit things into our lives that are important. Make writing one of those important things you need to fit in! Don't talk yourself out of something you love.
