Getting big customers before investors
Posted by Janet Attard
How do you land corporate customers for your startup? How do you get a company like IBM or Motorola or Palm to believe in your tiny business, trust it, and buy from it? And how does landing one or more corporate customers affect your chances for getting venture funding?
Those are the questions that will be addressed this Thursday evening(June 15, 2006) when the American Venture Network puts on an event called Building Customers Before Investors. The event, which will be held in New York City, starts at
5:30 PM. It features a panel of experts including
- Gerard Mooney, IBM CHQ, Marketing VP Corporate Strategy, Emerging Business Opportunities
- Jim O'Connor, Motorola Inc., Vice President and General Manager, Early Stage Accelerator
- Jeanne Sullivan, StarVest Capital, Founding Partner
- Bob Plotkin, Terrapin Partners, Founding Partner
- Ross Goldstein, Co-Founder and Managing Director of DFJ Gotham Ventures
Tim O'Malley, CEO of American Venture Network, will be moderating.
