Congress passes minimum wage bill
Posted by Janet Attard
A bill to increase federal minimum wage, which was tied into
the war funding bill has passed both houses of congress. The bill, which is expected to be signed by the President, increases the federal minimum wage from
its present $5.15 to $7.25 an hour over a two-year period, with the first increase, to $5.85 an hour coming within 60 days after the bill is signed into law.
Employers should note that in states where the federal and state minimum wage rates differ, the higher of the two rates is the effective rate.
Business Know-How will be notifying our labor law poster customers as soon as the new minimum wage posters are released by the Department of Labor and incorporated into our federal labor law posters (which also include the newest OSHA poster) and our state and federal all-in-one format labor law posters.
If you would like to be notified by email when the new federal minimum wage poster is available, please sign up for our free labor law poster notification service.

This will drive up the cost of burgers at the local fast food places. People should put more emphasis on preparing their children so that they won’t grow up and have to work a minimum wage job.
