Previous: Delta Readies In-Flight Wi-Fi I’ve been at Affiliate Summit East for the last two days.( I was here to speak on yesterday's panel about what makes a great affiliate program.) As usual, Shawn Collins and Missy Ward put together a fantastic event - one that's proven to be a really useful learning and networking event for attendees. And this year more than 2000 agencies, affiliates, merchants, networks, and vendors have turned out at Affiliate East. I have to be back in NY this afternoon (leaving to catch a plane in 15 minutes), so I’m a bit bummed that I couldn’t stay for the final day. But during the two days I have been here, I’ve met a lot of people and hope to develop long-term business relationships with a couple of them. For those of you not familiar with affiliate marketing – or perhaps have misconceptions about it - affiliate marketing is, in my mind, at least, just another twist on advertising. Advertisers (merchants) pay publishers or others who have a way to deliver marketing messages online based on performance rather than page views or size of the audience a publication reaches. When the right merchants hook up with the right publishers with the right deals in place, it’s a win-win way of marketing that takes a lot of the guess work out of advertising . | Comments (5) Comments Jane Posted by: Kare Anderson on August 14, 2008 at 1:28 PM Being new to affiliate marketing this article has given me a more positive view on what one can accomplish in this field of business. Affiliate Summit East - Wow!
I attended affiliate summit 2 years ago and have not been able to get out there since. I’ll have to plan ahead for next year because it was a valuable networking experience!
