In the market for a new inkjet printer for your small or home office? Want to find one that has long lasting ink cartridges that are economical to replace when you do need to change them? If so, Brother International Corporation has two new multifunction ink jets you'll want to look at.
The printers, which are part of their INKvestment line, have just recently become available at major retailers in the US. The MFC‐J985DW prints a black and white page for less than a penny and color pages for less than a nickel each. The MFC‐J985DW XL print costs are equally low, but it includes 12 INKvestment cartridges, (three black and three of each of the color cartridges) eliminating the need to purchase ink for up to two years (based on standard ink coverage and, 300-page per month usage.)
The black ink cartridge prints about 2400 pages, and each color cartridge prints about 1200 pages. When you do have to replace the XL cartridges, you can do so for $25 for black ink and $15 for color ink cartridges. Printers vary, but by way of comparison, those numbers put the price of printing from the Brother INKvestment printers at about 40% less than what it costs us to print from a different brand's inkjet that we have here in our office. In fact the low cost of use charge led PC Magazine to rate the MFC‐J985DW an Editor's Choice for use in small and home offices.
Both printers feature standard multifunction capabilities of print, color copy, scan and fax. They also allow you to print wirelessly from almost any wireless device. The printing speed is rated by Brother at 12 pages per minute for black and 10 pages a minute for color.
The INKvestment versions are competitively priced at $199 and $299 respectively. The printer should be available now in your local retail stores, or you can buy them through Amazon.com. (Disclosure: if you buy through the Amazon links on this page, BusinessKnowHow will receive a small commission.)
