Get Noticed with Priority Mail
by Janet Attard
Recipients usually regard overnight mail as urgent or very important. Therefore, it usually gets opened as soon as it arrives.
If you want your letters or packages to get opened immediately, but don't need to send them via overnight mail, send them using the US Postal Service's Priority Mail. The envelopes for Priority Mail are similar enough in appearance to the Post Office's Express Mail (overnight) envelopes and packages that recipients often confuse the two. Your budget won't though. The cost of a sending a letter Priority Mail is only $4.75. The cost of sending the same letter via overnight mail is $12.60.
Note: Priority Mail isn't likely to arrive overnight. Unless you are mailing to a nearby community, it usually takes two days or more. But if it's the impression of urgency you want to convey, rather than a real need to get something to its destination overnight, Priority Mail is the way to go.
