Get that website up!

by Janet Attard

Have you been procrastinating about getting your website set up? If so, get moving now. Businesses and consumers alike expect businesses they do business with to have a website.

Don't spend months agonizing over every little detail of your web site. Just get version 1 of your site up. One of the most important things to remember about a web site is that it's fluid. It doesn't have to be perfect the first time. Or the second. Or the third.

"Test and learn, test and learn," says Dan Wasserman, CEO of Thorne, West, a consultancy which specializes in internet and hi-tech marketing. "The beauty of the web is its immediacy. Unlike traditional media, you don't have to wait months to get a reaction."

Unlike traditional media, it won't cost you a fortune to make changes if something is not just right, either. All you will have to pay for is the time it takes to actually make the change. So, be brave. Put the web site up. Let your customers tell you by their purchases or their feedback what is working and what isn't working to their satisfaction. You might even set up a survey to solicit feedback from your visitors. Remember, your site doesn't have to be a work of art. It just has to be functional.

This tip is very meaningful to me. I've been working on my web site for a long time trying to get it "perfect." I hope to put it up imminently,

I found a place called site sell, they have built a tool that allows you to build professional web sites without needing to learn any HTML. They also have a lot of online forums and training materials for understanding how to use the web to your advantage.

I use it and I think my web site looks good
