Is Your Trusted Employee a Thief?

Is Your Trusted Employee a Thief?
“No way!” you say?
All of us want to believe our employees are honest, but sadly small businesses are often the victims of employee theft. And usually the culprit is someone the business owner thought was a faithful, hardworking, trustworthy employee.
The reasons people you trust turn into thieves are varied. Sometimes greed is the motivator. Sometimes desperation is. And, sometimes employees think no one will notice – or that they’ll repay what they took before anyone notices.
But whatever the reason, your business could be a victim – especially these days as the ever spiraling gas prices put people with limited incomes or very high expenses under increasing stress.
So, be sure to keep a close eye on your company’s financial transactions. Keep an eye out for employees who never take vacation, who come in early every day and leave late, and anyone who has access to your bank account, accounts payable, credit card numbers, merchant account access, and inventory.
