Today's color printers can turn any office into a quick print shop. The low prices of the printers combined with high quality output make it very convenient to print small quantities of letterhead, brochures, postcards, colorful client reports, business cards, mock-ups of ads, and other colorful letter- and legal-sized documents from your own computer.
For very small multi-color print jobs, that convenience represents a cost-savings over traditional printing, too. But if you need to print more than a few copies of any color document, the cost savings starts to disappear. That's because toner cartridges -- especially color toner cartridges are expensive. In fact, with some printers, the cost of replacing all four toner cartridges can equal or exceed the original cost of the printer.
