Asking for a discount, though, is different from haggling over prices. You don't spend a lot of time going back and forth about prices, and you don't spend a lot of time comparing prices and trying to get your preferred vendor to meet some rock-bottom figure you have in mind. Instead, all you do is ask a simple question:
Can you do any better on the price?
Variations of that question that work well, particularly if you're buying a large quantity of supplies, inventory or raw material include:
Do you offer quantity discounts?
What quantity would I have to buy to get a discount?
Asking these questions will help you discover "hidden" discounts and will help you save hundreds or thousands of dollars over the cost of the year. Not asking the question will mean you'll spend hundreds or thousands of dollars you don't have to each year.
