Before you sign any contract, be sure you read and understand every word in the contract.
Don't think that you can just skim quickly through the document because you're going to have an attorney go over it. Although the attorney will read the contract carefully and alert you to any problems she sees, she can't read your mind. She doesn't know how much you know about the deal or product for which the contract has been created. She also doesn't know what verbal commitments or promises were made to you.
As you read the contract make notes about anything you don't understand or have questions about. Put a removable sticky note at each location in the contract that you have questions or concerns about. Go over these questions and concerns with your attorney. If you want changes made in the agreement before you sign it, let your attorney handle the negotiations.
