Cross-Promote Your Business

by Janet Attard

You can gain valuable new business by linking up with other non-competing businesses to cross-promote each others' products and services. A small restaurant recently worked out a deal with a local theater, for instance. Each of them promoted a special dinner and theater package - dinner at the restaurant and a seat at the show for a discount off the cost of each purchased separately.

Cross promotional and referral opportunities are all around if you look. A New Jersey photographer whose business focused on weddings worked out referral systems with florists, travel agencies, caterers, restaurants, and others who targeted couples about to be married."

Depending on your line of work, accountants, bankers, insurance brokers, and attorneys make good networking partners, as do writers, graphic artists and computer service businesses.

I LIKE THIS IDEA VERY MUCH. I HAVE DONE IT IN THE PAST WITH BRIDAL STORES...SHOES STORES...FLOWER SHOPS.... AND BAKERY'S ON A FLYER STYLE FORMAT, WITH COUPONS. LEAVING THE FLYERS AT EACH LOCATION MENTIONED ON THE FLYER, ASSURING THAT THERE IS A CHANCE SOMEONE WILL USE THE SHOE STORE WITH THE DISCOUT COUPON ETC. FOR THEIR WEDDING SHOES,CAKE,FLOWERS ETC...I REALLY WORKED!BUT NOT ONLY THAT, THEY ALL SHARED IN THE COST OF THE PUBLICITY TOO! WE HAVE TO DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES NOW DAYS...
