Encourage Your Customers to Give You Feedback
by Janet Attard
If you want to know how to improve your products to stay competitive or want to know what new products to introduce, your customers can be your best source of information. Encourage them to report their experiences with your products to you and be sure you keep a record of problems they report. Look for ways to solve these problems and keep your ears open for commonly requested features your product doesn't have.
One good way to get customer feedback is to stay in contact with them through print or online mailings. Have a feedback form on your website, and remind your customers to use it to comment on your product, and to report features they'd like you to add.
If your sales are contract sales and you've lost out to a competitor, ask the customer for a debriefing. The information will give you the facts you need to determine how your offerings compare in price and quality to the competition and perhaps guide you to easy fixes you can make so you do get the contract the next time.
