Include testimonials from your customers in your ads and all your marketing material
by Janet Attard
Testimonials are almost as powerful as personal recommendations for selling your product. They give you credibility and help assure prospects that others who have bought what you sell have been happy with their purchase.
If you’ve been in business a while, you may already have a file of letters praising your product or service. But if all you've done is stuff the letters of praise in a file drawer or left them in your email inbox, they're not doing anything other than stroking your ego.
Don't let them go to waste. Put those testimonials to work for you.
Contact each customer who has praised you and ask for permission to include their comments in advertisements and sales literature.
If you don’t have any testimonials, ask your customers for them. Encourage your employees to ask for testimonials too by offering them some type of incentive for each testimonial they bring in on customer letterhead. Be sure your rules include getting the customer to agree to let you use the testimonial in your advertising.

Regarding use of testamonials:
Take a tonic for better teeth.
I have been having dental problems and my dental bills exceed my food and rent bills. Even after paying a $3,000 dental bill, my smile is still nothing like the people that are in those testamonials.
I look at the people who have used Dr Ajax’s vitamin formula. What a smile! See the teeth sparkle! But mine don’t look like that after 3 months on his product.
But look at this ad for hot flashes! I don’t have hot flashes-I am not of that gender, but that smile! Those beautiful teeth! What if possibly taking Flash No More I could have teeth like that! I asked my dentist and he looked at me strangely, then decided I was joking, and laughed at the idea. But, he has a lot to lose. Flash no more at $39 a month is a heck of a lot cheaper than his bills are! Besides, you know these people are sincere, they guarantee results in 30 days, so what have I got to lose?
I have given up on the dental/toothpaste products. They also show bright smiling peope but I have used their products for years without looking like those joyful happy people. Maybe they are just happy because they don’t have my dentist bills?
Problem is, there are so many of these ads for various products, many showing a dozen or more people with happy perfect teeth after using their products that I don’t know which to try first.
That ad for the ear drops to stop ear noises. I find it difficult to see how putting drops in the ear could affect the teeth, but look at the testamonials! Those beautiful teeth! I guess I will try that, based on the testimonials.
