Previous: Watch Out for Fraudulent Credit Card Orders by Janet Attard Here's an easy way to build sales: keep in touch with your customers on a regular basis. Whether you're running a traditional off-line business or sell products online, there's a cost attached to acquiring a customer for the first time. That initial cost could equal or exceed your profit on the sale. That fact alone often drives new businesses out of business. Smart marketers know that the way to profit - in fact the only way to profit in some businesses - is to get the customer to make repeat purchases. One easy way to do that is to stay in touch with your customers via email. Email offers a number of advantages over traditional mail. Among them, the cost is significantly less to send email than it is to send traditional mail. How do you get the names and email addresses of your customers, prospects or website visitors? It's simple: ask. Offer a free newsletter or ask customers to sign up to get free coupons in email. If your business is offline, have a form customers can fill out at the cash register, or send the form in mail when you bill customers or send other promotional material. If you have a website, have a newsletter signup form on your website. Once you start capturing email addresses, send mail on a regular basis. As your list grows, you'll start to see sales increases and website traffic increases on the days you send your newsletter.
