Make
Colorful Flyers In A Hurry
With the HP Business Inkjet 1100 Series Printers
It was about 4 pm. I'd forwarded all of my calls to voice mail so I could
gather up everything I needed for my booth at a local small business trade show
the next day. I had my tabletop display, literature holders, advertising
giveaways, business cards and most of my product literature ready to load into
my SUV. But I discovered that I only had 3 or 4 copies of the color flyer most
people pick up first – the promotional copy for the Business Know-How web site.
What now?
Thanks to the new HP Business Inkjet 1100 printer I was testing, the solution
was simple:
I printed dozens of flyers while I was loading everything else into the SUV.
I printed the flyers on 24-pound inkjet paper using the printer's Normal mode.
The resulting printouts had crisp, clear text and solidly filled colored lines
and bars. Photographs on the flier weren't as sharp as they would have been if I
had had the flyers created by a commercial artist and printed by a commercial
printer. But they were acceptable, and instead of spending thousands of dollars
for handouts that change fairly often, I spent about 16 cents per printed piece.
And had I really needed photo quality (and wanted to wait longer for the flyers
to print) I could have printed the flyers on photo paper in 4800 x 1200
optimized dpi mode.
In addition to printing flyers, the HP Business Inkjet 1100 does an excellent
job on a wide variety of color documents. It's a fast, and cost-effective way
for printing labels and letterhead in the small quantities most smaller offices
need, and it's perfect for printing out color capabilities brochures or sales
literature customized for individual prospects. Bind the printed pages with a
spiral binding, and for roughly 20 cents to 50 cents a page (depending on the
paper you use and the ink coverage) you'll have a product as professional as any
major corporation produces.
In addition to being able to spit out color pages quickly, the printer can
print on two sides of the same sheet of paper (without manually reloading the
paper.). The printer prints the first side, and then " sucks" the printed page
back into the machine and prints on the second side. It's fun to watch, but it's
a bit slow, and is only useful if you are using heavyweight stock. Even with 24
pound ink jet paper, the printing from the first side showed through onto the
second side.
The HP Business Inkjet 1100 has a 150-sheet input tray. (The 1100 dtn version
has a 250-sheet input tray and an internal print server.) It has a duty cycle of
6,250 pages per month – enough for most small offices. It uses four separate
color cartridges, which are available in most retail outlets that sell inkjet
ink. The printer is available on the
Hewlett Packard web site
at prices that start at $199.00. It’s a good investment for any small office
that needs fast, reliable inkjet color printing.
